About Us

Our Club
Alexandria R/C Flyers Club is a family oriented group, formed in 1987 to promote the safe building and flying of radio controlled (R/C) model aircraft.  We strive to provide a fun, supportive, family atmosphere where people of all ages can learn and enjoy the exciting sport of R/C flying.

Members fly a wide variety of aircraft, including airplanes and helicopters, ranging in size from small park flyers all the way up to 40% scale replicas of the original full scale aircraft.  We also have a very wallet friendly dues structure, including a family rate.
The Flying Site
Our field is located on 40 acres with two intersecting runways measuring 450 and 500 feet, as well as a 300 foot long "Geo-Tex" fabric surface runway.

Our site has ample parking and pit areas, shaded seating, and sanitary facilities on site.  Spectators are welcome.

Club membership and AMA membership are required to fly at the site.
Also, visiting AMA members are welcome to fly at the site with the sponsorship of a current member.

Dates and Times

We typically hold Spring and Fall business meetings, with additional special meetings as needed.  Spring and Fall meetings are held on published dates (Typically the third Thursday of that month)  at 7pm in Alexandria Aviation's terminal building conference room at the Alexandria Airport.

During the summer months, we have designated Thursday evenings as our "official" club flying and training night.  We encourage new members to bring their planes and will provide free flight instruction.

Through the summer months, we also hold impromptu meetings on the third Thursday of each month at the flying field (7pm) to keep members informed on important Club, AMA, and FAA news.
